Arrivederci ad Arborea

The book is a visual essay on the landscape of Sardinia and the Mediterranean, combining ground observations and historical reconstructions. It starts from the wetlands of Oristano, most of which drained in the Fascist period to create arable land and new towns. The storyline takes the reader through the remaining marshes and their ecological conflicts; the legacy of Fascist architecture; American DDT experiments; and the postwar invention of a touristic imaginary.
